Time left for the first
match at "Dinamo"
The Dynamo stadium may host a football match between the national teams of Russia and Brazil. This proposal was addressed by Senior Vice President of VTB Bank and the head of the VTB Arena Park project Andrei Peregoudov to Pelé, the world football legend, at the dinner in honor of the beginning of the FIFA Confederations Cup.
Pelé, who is the best football player of the 20th century according to FIFA, came to Moscow on this occasion. The world football legend had a very intensive visit agenda: Pelé met with Vladimir Putin and started the countdown clock for the FIFA World Cup, which will start in one year. The official ceremony on this occasion was also visited by the widow of the world famous goalkeeper Lev Yashin, where she awarded Pelé a life-time access to the Dynamo stadium and presented him a rarity ball.
“I visited Russia six or seven times, I’ve lost the count,” said Pelé. “The first time was in 1965 but, since then, I’ve been here many times. Russia and Brazil have good relations, I don’t know why. We are so far from each other. However, in football and in other spheres, our positions and views are quite close. For me Russia means friends. Lev Yashin was the first among them. Now I am talking to his wife Valentina and it means a lot to me.”
At the official dinner on the occasion of the started countdown for the FIFA World Cup, Andrei Peregoudov was honored to have a personal talk with Pelé. During the discussion, the football player expressed his hope that the Russian and Brazilian national teams would enter the final of the 2018 World Cup. The head of the VTB Arena Park project, for his part, offered to organize the match at the new Dynamo stadium regardless of the tournament results.
As part of his visit, Pelé left his autograph and an exclusive drawing in the book of honored visitors of the VTB Arena – Central Stadium “Dynamo” complex.
